This is the Standarte I plan to use with the von Zastrow's when the arrive. The design follows Peter Bunde's excellent print for this regiment.

Kürassier Regiment von Zastrow
I have just received pictures of my finished commission of the Saxon Kurassier Regiment von Zastrow, GM von Thielemann's Brigade, GdD Lorge's 7th Heavy Cavalry Division during the War of 1812. They fought at the Battle of Borodino with great distinction. The unit is modeled here at General de Brigade 1/20th scale strength, as it would have been at Borodino. It was painted for me by Carl Robson.
I followed the plates by Peter Bunde for the uniform details. I now need to add a standard to complete this regiment.

Wings of Glory - it's highly addictive!
My daughter Gwen snapped this picture over the weekend of my ever-growing collection of Wings of War/Glory WWI aircraft models....and then turned me in to my wife! Alright, I must admit Wings is highly addictive, but now I'm in therapy!
14th Brooklyn (84th New York)
My new project is the 14th Brooklyn (84th New York). This chasseur-equipped militia regiment is being modeled and soon to be released by the talented sculptors at Forgotten Glorious.
Hopefully the artists at Leuthen Studios will render them something like this:
This painting of the "14th Brooklyn, 1862" is by the ACW artist, Don Troiani, to whom full credit for his research and artistry...and inspiration for my latest commission.

114th Pennsylvania "Collis Zouaves" FINISHED!
My 114th Pennsylvania "Collis Zouaves" unit has been completed by the talented artist at Leuthen Studios and will shortly be on its way to California. He has done an excellent job of working with my instructions (as advised by many of my readers!). I'm very happy with the result.
The 114th uses metal figures from Perry, "Zouaves in fezzes and chasseur trousers". Flags are by GMB.

The Red Baron (2008) "Der rote Baron"
For a great WWI movie about the war in the air, I recommend The Red Baron "der rote Baron" (2008) starring Matthias Schweighofer as a perfect Rittmeister Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen.
The movie was criticized for some historical inaccuracies, but overall I think it is a very good movie with interesting characterizations, a plot and great aerial combat scenes. His red Albatros of Jasta 11 is nicely portrayed.

Wings of Glory: First Battles
Will, Jeff and I had out first taste of Wings of Glory this weekend, played on the excellent game-mats produced by Ares along with their delightful 1/144 scale model aircraft. The game looks brilliant and is great fun to play. We were playing the basic game within minutes and quickly graduated to the most advanced rules.
I converted 4 flight stands to hold the gimbals sold aftermarket on the "Aerodrome" support site for this game:
Several different conversion methods are suggested at this site . I opted for a method which requires no alteration of the model aircraft. This article was very helpful:
