Saxon Houses 18th-19th Century

These Saxon buildings were purchased a few years ago from the Croebern Diorama on-line shop. Although 1/72nd scale, the same as the Diorama, they work well for my SYW games and Leipzig era Napoleonic games. I'm not sure they are still sold on the Croebern site which has now changed its format.

The buildings were assembled and painted for me by Leuthen Miniatures.

Ingolstadt Bavarian Army Museum: Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig 1813

On July 8, 2009 my wife and I visited the Bavarian Army Museum in Ingolstadt. The museum is housed in the beautiful Neuen Schloss.

One of the finest dioramas in the museum is of the Battle of Leipzig, 1813.

More Austrians at Leipzig

I rarely buy miniatures that I have not myself commissioned. However I was very fortunate recently to have the opportunity to acquire some excellent Hungarians painted by the talented Andrew Taylor:

I had seen these on Steve Dean and jumped at the opportunity to buy them. The painting and composition is excellent. Andrew has also used deeper Litko bases with rounded edges that allow more room for scenic effects on the bases.

There are grenadiers from three Hungarian Regiments represented in this combined unit:  IR 2 "Hiller", IR37 "Weidenfeld " and IR 48 "Vukasovich'. At Leipzig, IR's 2 and 48 served in FML Bianchi's Division, GM Haugwitz's Brigade, and IR 37 in FML Weißenwolff's Division, GM von Fürstenwärther's Brigade.

Figures of this quality rarely come on the market so my policy is to try to obtain them when they do. I am trying to build Weißenwolff's Division, hence my earlier posts. However as all of these units fought at Leipzig, I'm fine building Bianchi's as well!

Austrians at Leipzig, 1813

I have just received a new commission of Austrians from Leuthen Studios. I wanted a sampling of the new Perry Austrians and I am very pleased with the result. They form part of my Leipzig Project. For GrenadierBattalion Call, also part of Graf Weißenwolff's Division, please see this entry from January 2013:

These Hungarian grenadiers are from Grenadierbatallion Habinay with two companies each from IR32 and IR 39. They formed part of Brigade Watzi in FML Nikolaus Graf Weißenwolff's Division at Leipzig.

These are the Hessen-Homburg Hussars, Nr 4, properly titled "Hussar Regiment Friedrich-Josef Erbprinz zu Hessen-Homburg". The formed part of Brigade Raigencourt in the Leichte Division of FML Ignatz Graf von Hardegg. The regiment was commanded in 1813 by Oberst Raban Freiherr von Spiegel.
