les Mousquetaires gris

My latest unit is the Mousquetaires gris of the Maison du Roi. This is of course the regiment of the "Three Musketeers" fame, but in the uniform in which it served in the War of the Austrian Succession and Seven Years War.

These beautiful 28mm figures are by Crann Tara and were painted for me by a good friend. The flag is by GMB Designs.

The gris (grey) musketeers and the noir (black) musketeers rode horses of their respective colour. I hope to do the Mousquetaires noir at some point.

Chasseurs de Fischer

These are the new figures by Crann Tara of the Chassuers de Fischer, painted for me by Leuthen Studios. The flag was hand made by me using Photoshop and represents the 3 fishes featured on various items of equipment.

Crann Tara Miniatures

I have recently discovered a very nice range of 18th Century metal figures by Crann Tara Miniatures. These are beautifully sculpted in 1/56 scale by Richard Ansell and are compatible with Fife and Drum and Minden Miniatures.

I was sent some very nice sample figures by proprietor Graham Cummings who has been great to work with. The animation is excellent and the poses are a little less formal than the Minden range. Graham is focussing currently on the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 and the War of the Austrian Succession.

I highly recommend these figures and hope that Graham will expand his products to include the Seven Years War which is my personal favourite.
